The seam will be 1.3 cm to 1.5 cm from the edge of the fabric. You can sew one layer of cloth (for example to avoid fraying the edges), but since the purpose of sewing is to join two pieces of cloth together, you should get used to sewing two pieces of cloth and the pins you need to use.
Pin the front right side of the fabric so that the seam ends on the inside of the fabric. The front side of the fabric is the fabric that faces out after sewing, and if it is a patterned fabric, it is usually the side with the brighter color. Solid-color fabrics have no obvious distinction between the front and the inside.
The position of the pin should be perpendicular to the direction of the suture. You can thread the pins while sewing and remove them later without damaging the machine, fabric or pins. Of course it would be safer to remove the pin before the stitches reach the pin, lest the pin break or the needle of the sewing machine become dull. Avoid sewing through the head of the pin.
