Solutions to common problems of sewing machines

Dec 03, 2020 Leave a message

During the use of the sewing machine, many faults can be solved simply on the working surface, and there is no need to ask a mechanic to do a lot of work, such as flip the switch or even replace the needle only once. If it works, it can avoid a long time. Ground stoppage and dismantling of the machine caused a mess on the work surface. Below is a list of some minor faults that often occur during sewing and how to remove them for your reference.

1. Sudden stop during sewing; the power indicator is on, but the handwheel is stagnant.

Possible reasons (hereinafter referred to as "causes"): The sewing machine has been working at a low speed for a long time; overheating of the machine may cause the motor to automatically shut down.

Solution (hereinafter referred to as "solution"): Turn off the power and wait for 20 minutes, the safety device will restart, and the sewing machine is ready to start working.

Twisted wires & jumpers

Bottom line winding into a group solution 1:

There may be several reasons for this. Sometimes the upper thread is loose, sometimes the thread is stuck under the inner liner of the hook (where the bobbin case is placed), the upper thread cannot come out of the hook, or the hook is broken. (In this case, only the hook is changed). I usually debug the noodle thread a little bit first. If the situation improves, it proves to be the problem with the noodle thread. At this time, just tighten the noodle thread directly;

If the situation does not improve, remove the thread from the bobbin case, wipe it with a softer cloth, and then remove all the parts that can be removed from the bobbin case, and check if there is any jammed thread or other garbage inside. Basically, the problem is solved by dismantling, washing and cleaning, applying some oil, and running the machine a few times on the empty machine.

I use Feiyue, and the chassis will become tangled.

The way I deal with it is: first keep the upper thread and the bottom thread the same kind of thread, and then unscrew the small screw on the bobbin to solve it.

Bottom line winding into a group solution 3:

Thread the thread again, and then check whether the thread clamp on the top is stuck in the thread and whether the bottom thread is on the bobbin case. This problem occurs because the line is not wound well. If the situation improves, you can check whether the tension of the upper and lower lines is good.

Bottom line winding into a group solution 4:

It is best to use the same thread for the upper thread and the bottom thread, except for special operations (for example, the elastic thread needs to be applied)

Bottom line winding into a group solution 5:

It is recommended to check the manual carefully to see if the thread is not worn properly, and re-arrange the thread.

Bottom line winding into a group solution 6:

Because the needle is worn out, if the upper thread is threaded correctly, just replace it with a new needle.

Question 2

My sewing machine is old-fashioned, and I don’t know what's going on recently. The sewing machine doesn’t eat thick, and the single-layer cloth can still be used, but if it’s a little thicker, it always jumps the thread. I don’t know what the problem is.

Jumper solution 1:

Can't draw the bottom line. Analysis: The shuttle thread is too short, the shuttle thread is clamped in the shuttle door, the needle is too high, and the shuttle cannot hook the thread loop.

Solution: extend the shuttle thread, check whether the bottom thread is jammed, and eliminate it. Needle bar connecting shaft firm screw loosen and move the needle bar up, adjust the needle bar down, re-align the needle, and tighten the fastening screw.

If you can't see whether the needle is aligned, you can use a piece of white paper to cover it, and look at the downward position to align the needle.

Jumper solution 2:

The needle bar moves. Analysis: Needle bar hole, needle bar wear, needle bar connecting screw loose, needle bar displacement.

Solution: Replace the needle bar cover, or select a new needle bar, re-align the needle; and tighten the screw.

Jumper solution 3:

One stitch skips over a few stitches. Analysis: The shuttle is worn, the tip of the shuttle is too blunt, and the needle is too high or too low.

Treatment method: change the shuttle, adjust the height of the needle bar or the height of the needle, and re-align the needle.

Jumper solution 4:

Can not sew with continuous jumper or one stitch. Analysis: The quality of the needle is poor or the needle cannot be bent normally to produce a loop. The needle is too high to catch the thread loop, and the sewing material and sewing machine needles are not properly matched. Long-term use of shuttle, swing bed and other parts are severely worn or broken.

Treatment method: replace the qualified needle or straighten the needle. Adjust the height of the needle bar or needle. Under normal circumstances, the shuttle or shuttle bed can be replaced and overhauled if necessary.

Jumper solution 5:

Sewing thin without jumper, sewing thick jumper. Analysis: The presser foot pressure is not enough, the needle is too thin, the thread hook mechanism and other parts are severely worn.

Treatment method: adjust the presser foot pressure, change the needle, replace the parts, and repair.

Jumper solution 6:

Sew thick jumpers and thin jumpers. Analysis: The needle-containing hole of the needle plate is worn too much, the needle is too thick, the bottom of the presser foot is worn, or the presser foot pressure is too small.

Treatment method: change the needle plate, change the fine needle, change the presser foot, change the presser foot, or adjust the presser foot pressure.

Jumper solution 7:

Try again to see if the bobbin case needs to be adjusted. Sometimes the card wire will jump if it is not adjusted properly.

2. No needle movement

Cause: The upper thread is used up; the presser foot is not lowered; the bobbin thread shaft is not in the correct position.

Solution: Replace the empty spool and re-identify the needle; lower the presser foot; press the hook spool to the end and return to the left; lower the buttonhole lever.

3. The sewing machine is trying to stop

Cause: The presser foot does not match or the needle hits the presser foot; the needle falls off and jams into the crochet hook.

Solution: Replace the presser foot; remove the needle and install a new needle.

4. The upper thread is broken

Reasons: improper threading method; thread knotting; excessive thread tension; needle bending, blunt tip or blisters; incorrect needle size; improper needle placement; improper needle and thread coordination; initial sewing speed too fast; threading without picking up Wire device.

Solution: Restart the thread normally; eliminate knots in the thread; adjust the pressure of the thread clamp; replace the needle; replace the needle of the appropriate size; properly set the needle; change the thread or needle; start the sewing machine at a medium speed; check the threading procedure .

5. The bottom thread is broken

Cause: The bobbin is not completely inserted into the bobbin case; the bobbin is entangled with thread; the bobbin does not run smoothly in the bobbin case; there is yarn in the bobbin case or on the bobbin.

Solution: Reload the bobbin into the bobbin case carefully; arrange the bobbin case outgoing line; check that the bobbin may be damaged; clean the bobbin case and the bobbin.

6. Jumper

Cause: The thread tension is too large; the needle is bent or blunt; the needle size is incorrect; the needle and thread are not matched properly; the thread has not passed through the thread take-up lever; the pressure of the presser foot is not enough; the needle is placed incorrectly.

Solution: adjust the thread tension; replace the needle; select the appropriate size needle; replace the needle or thread; check the threading step; increase the pressure of the presser foot; re-load the needle.

7. The stitches do not meet the requirements

Reason: The machine thread is not completely pulled into the sensor; the threading method is wrong; the bobbin case is out of the wrong thread; the size of the spool cap does not match.

Solution: fully pull the machine thread into the sensor; thread the thread correctly; correct the bobbin case outlet; use a spool cap of the same size.

8. The stitches are chaotic, and the smart clothing technology V star 975851096 has a lot of good information

Reasons: the needle size is not correct; the threading step is wrong; the thread tension plate is loose; the cloth is pulled strongly; the presser foot is not strong or completely loose; the bobbin is deformed.

Solution: Select a needle suitable for thread and fabric; re-thread the machine; tighten the thread clamp; do not pull the fabric forcefully but feed the material gently; tighten or reinstall the presser foot; rewind the bobbin.

9. Fabric wrinkles

Reasons: the stitches are too large for a specific fabric; the needle tip is blunt; the thread tension is not appropriate; the presser foot is not strong enough; the fabric is too thin; the thread diameter or material difference of the upper thread and the bottom thread used is caused.

Solution: reduce the stitch size; replace the needle; adjust the thread tension; increase the pressure of the presser foot; use a thin liner; the upper thread and the bottom thread are of the same quality and diameter.

10. Stranded wire

Reason: The upper thread and the bottom thread have not passed the presser foot; the feeding teeth sink

Solution: press the bottom thread of the upper thread on the presser foot at the same time; raise the feed dog

11. Broken needle

Reasons: thin needles are used to sew thick materials; the needle installation is insufficient; the needle fastening gong is loose; the presser foot is not selected properly; the presser foot is loose.

Solution: Replace the appropriate needle; reinstall the needle; tighten the needle to fix the gong wire; select a suitable presser foot; reinstall the presser foot.

12. Excessive noise, rattling, and machine death

Reasons: debris stuffed the feeding teeth; yarn on the tip of the shuttle; thread entangled the shuttle.

Solution: Clean the machine; disassemble the machine and clean the shuttle.

13, the machine does not feed

Reasons: set the stitch length to 0; the presser foot is too loose; the feeding tooth position is too low; the fabric is knotted under the thread.

Solution: reset the appropriate stitch pattern and length; adjust the presser foot pressure to "normal"; raise the feed dog; put the double thread below the presser foot before sewing.

14. Unable to thread the needle; the threader does not move; the threading hook cannot enter the eye of the needle

Reason: The needle is not in the highest position; the self-protection of the needle recognition device when the needle is not in place; the needle is not fully installed in place.

Solution: Turn the handwheel until the needle reaches the highest position; insert the needle completely.

15. The threader does not return to its position and the sewing machine stops; the threading hook retains the eye of the needle

Cause: The sewing machine moves unexpectedly when the threading hook is still in the eye of the needle.

Solution: Move the handwheel clockwise and take out the thread hook.
